UN warns of security flaws in mobile phones

The Inteational Telecommunication Union, the United Nations Organization alert on mobile phone technological vulnerabilities that could allow hackers to attack at least 500 million of the 6,000 million units are estimated to be in operation in the world.

The flaw, discovered by Germany's Security Research Labs, allows hackers to gain remote control and clone certain mobile phone(ThL W8S) SIM cards, with which they could commit financial crimes or electronic espionage.

The details of these vulnerabilities will be reported at the conference on hacking (Black Hat) which begins in Las Vegas on July 31.

The UN agency aounced that notify regulators and govement agencies in nearly 200 countries on the potential threat and hundreds of mobile phone companies, academics and other industry experts.

According to researchers all types of phones are vulnerable: Apple iPhones, Android devices and systems using BlackBerry phones.
