Mobile phones: the European market continues to grow , leading smartphones

Sales of mobile phones(Lenovo P780) have also increased compared to last year in the second quarter of 2013 . Good news. However, they were lower than the first three months of the year.

With 43.3 million units, sales of mobile phones ( including smartphones ) grew 2.6 % compared to last year in Weste Europe , says IDC.

If sales of basic phones have continued to decline (-27%) with 10.7 million units sold , smartphones , they have continued to rise ( 19 %) with 32.6 million copies sold. They now account for 75 % of sales.

However, IDC finds that sales in the second quarter were worse than the first . Which basically is quite logical , the second quarter is traditionally rich ads and presentation of news that will finally available at the back and on the second half of the year. Consumers therefore prefer to wait to enjoy the latest models rather than investing in a spring moving quickly exceeded.

Samsung is the number one European sector with 18.8 million units, or 43.4 % of the market . Nokia clings to second place despite sales collapsed 29.6 % to 5.7 million units. This is also the number of cell iPhones(Lenovo A830) sold by Apple in these three months. Behind Sony (3.7 million units) and LG (2.7 million units ) are the Top 5. No trace of Chinese manufacturers ( ZTE , Huawei, etc. . ) On the European market , while at the global level they are part of the big boys .

Moreover, we find the same five manufacturers in the Top 5 sales of smartphones with Samsung head ( 42.9 % market share) , followed by Apple (17.5%) , Sony ( 11.3%), LG (8 %) and Nokia ( 5.5%).

A niche where Android is the number one OS with 71% market share . The release of the new iPhone , however, should allow Apple to shake a little Google hegemony in the field of mobility. As for Windows Phone(Lenovo p770), it quietly continues to grow and now represents 6.3% of smartphones sold.
